Raymond Sponsors STEM Event for Greene Central High School Students
The Raymond Corporation recently hosted a group of 49 12th-grade students from the Greene Central High School Physics Department to provide education on careers in the manufacturing industry and a look at the engineering behind Raymond® lift trucks.
GREENE, N.Y. — The Raymond Corporation recently hosted a group of 49 12th-grade students from the Greene Central High School Physics Department to provide education on careers in the manufacturing industry and a look at the engineering behind Raymond® lift trucks. In alignment with the objectives of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education Coalition council for Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties, the Wednesday, May 8 event provided students with the opportunity to get a detailed look at STEM-related careers at Raymond.
“Programs like this help introduce students to all the career possibilities that a manufacturing company like Raymond can provide,” says Ethan Leet, physics teacher at Greene Central School. “We are so grateful to have Raymond as a resource right here in our own backyard — helping introduce students to excellent opportunities for their future.”
During the visit, students were placed into three small groups to participate in activities such as hands-on experiments in the Raymond lab and informational sessions on various engineering tools and programs led by Raymond engineers. In addition to this, students were educated on the operations of a global manufacturing corporation beyond manufacturing — covering areas such as human resources, sales and marketing.
Through the Raymond-Greene Central High School STEM project, high school students will visit Raymond annually to foster interest in the wide range of careers in the manufacturing industry.
